I mean, I was born and raised in NYC and no one really partied in Brooklyn until I was well into college. Yeah, basically everyone started celebrating their birthday in NYC here.

Therefore, some of the best Brooklyn breweries of them all are a new thing.

Now, I have made it my mission to find the best breweries Brooklyn has to offer. This way you can enjoy delicious beer, epic food, and even better vibes.

Therefore, you’ll be able to experience NYC – and Brooklyn – like a 35+ year local (aka me) and NOT like a tourist.

1. Kings County Brewers Collective

Flight of four beers that range from light to dark and that sit on a table at one of the best Keuka Lake breweries.

The neighborhood of Bushwick in Brooklyn used to be known as ‘the beer capital of the Northeast.
After all, this epic neighborhood is home to some of the best breweries in America.

But, by the time the Kings County Brewers Collective opened its Brooklyn brewery and taproom, it was the first new brick-and-mortar brewery in Bushwick in 40+ years.

Thanks in part to Kings County Brewers Collective, the area is now a hotspot for food and drink.

So, you’ll find their Brooklyn tap house in the heart of it all. You can also try a selection of high-quality lagers and ales that include crispy lagers, fruit sours, and a hazy IPA.

There is also a small range of snacks available for purchase, or you can take your own snacks along to enjoy with your beer at one of the best breweries in Brooklyn.

The Wild East Brewing Co. blends traditional European brewing techniques with contemporary American innovations.

Now, their diverse selection of lagers and ales includes sours, IPAs, English-style ales, and occasional seasonal specials.

Plus, most of the beers are low ABV, with sugar levels being kept to a minimum. The result are flavors that are complex but still very drinkable.

In fact, you can enjoy a selection of beers in the Wild East Brewing Co. taproom alongside wines, ciders, and spirits.

There’s even a rotating variety of events that include food pop-ups, board game nights, comedy evenings, and quizzes.

Additionally, monthly brewery tours allow you to witness the brewing process firsthand, from grain to glass.

You’ll even visit the barrel cellar for a tasting of four Wild East Brewing Co. beers that include one special release.

3. Other Half Brewing Co.

This Brooklyn brewery was founded in 2014 to represent the ‘Other Half’ of the brewing industry and push the boundaries around beer culture.

And that’s why you’ll find something for everyone in the ‘Other Half’ range.

While they’re known for their Hazy IPAs, you’ll find some of their unusual flavors intriguing.

So, if stout makes you think of quaint Irish pubs, check out the Other Half Brewing Co. stouts, which are barrel-aged and amplified with flavors like banana, coconut, and cereal.

Their smooth and dreamy Oat Cream IPAs are also 100% worth a taste and one of my personal faves.

It’s worth noting that there are two Other Half Brewing Co. taprooms in Brooklyn.

The original location is tucked away in Carroll Gardens and serve a range of over 20 draft beers.

In contrast, their second taproom is in Williamsburg’s Domino Park and is easily one of the best breweries Brooklyn has to offer.

Although this Brooklyn beer producer only opened in 2018, Grimm Artisanal Ales has quickly become known as one of the best breweries Brooklyn has to offer.

This brewery even introduced some of the first dry-hopped sour ales to the area and pioneered dessert-style sour ales with their Pop! series.

Now, you’ll find two Threes Brewing brewpubs in Brooklyn, like their flagship Gowanus taproom which was first opened in 2014.

When Tara Hankinson and LeAnn Darland joined the brewing industry, they soon realized that much of it was still male-dominated.

So, they saw a clear gap in the market for a Brooklyn microbrewery aimed at customers like them.

As a result, they created a series of easy-drinking beers that could replace the usual glass of wine or hard seltzer.

Then, together, they founded TALEA (pronounced tah-lay-uh) to craft high-quality, fruit-forward beers that will appeal to wine drinkers as much as beer connoisseurs.

So, stop by one of TALEA’s light, airy Brooklyn taprooms – in either Williamsburg or Cobble Hill – and enjoy a flight of beers with friends.

Created in 2015 to showcase local New York produce, Strong Rope Brewery is a family-run brewery in Brooklyn that hand-crafts a range of exceptional lagers, ales, IPAs, and sours

In fact, they use 100% New York state hops and malt in their beers and are an easy pick for the best brewery in Brooklyn.

Now, being a farm brewery means that they are required to primarily use local ingredients.

So, one of the best breweries Brooklyn has to offer works with malt, hop, and beer producers from across New York state to create Brooklyn beers that reflect the land and local ingredients.

They also have two Brooklyn locations, in Gowanus and Red Hook, that offer a rotating selection of Strong Rope beers with a variety of local styles and seasonal specials.

Strong Rope Brewery also believes in supporting other local producers. So, you’ll find New York state wines, ciders, and spirits available as well.

However, they also create IPAs, Brooklyn Brewery lager, and an alcohol-free lager.
